How this is calculated

  • Net area = length × height − openings.
  • Bricks = net area × bricks per square foot × number of wythes.
  • Bricks per square foot already assumes a 3/8 in mortar joint — a wider joint means fewer bricks.
  • Mortar ≈ one 80 lb bag per 125 bricks.

Before you order

  • Order all the brick in one run. Clay colour varies between production batches and a mid-wall change is permanent and obvious.
  • Brick veneer is not structural. It needs weep holes, a drainage gap and wall ties at code spacing, none of which are in this count.
  • 10% waste is the minimum for a plain wall. Corners, arches and cut patterns need more.
