Replacement Window Cost Calculator
Pick how many windows, the frame material and the glass package, and this builds the project total from unit cost plus installation, capping and disposal — so you can sanity-check a quote before you sign it.

Estimated project total
$8,100
- Cost per window, installed
- $785
- Windows
- $4,500
- Installation, capping
- $3,350
- Disposal
- $250
How this is calculated
- Unit cost = frame material + glass package upgrade.
- Install cost = labour + full-frame premium (if any) + exterior capping.
- Per window, installed = unit cost + install cost.
- Project total = (per window × count) + disposal.
Before you order
- The defaults are national mid-range figures for a standard-size double-hung. Regional labour rates move the installation line more than anything else on this page.
- Insert replacement keeps the existing frame and is cheaper. Full-frame tear-out is the honest answer when the frame is rotten, and it is the line most quotes differ on.
- Odd sizes, bays, bows, arches and anything needing structural work are not covered by a per-unit figure like this.
- Lead-safe work practices are required by law on housing built before 1978 and add cost. If a quote does not mention it on an older house, ask.
